Dear Vista Families,
This week, Los Angeles, San Diego and Santa Ana Unified School Districts announced that their schools will open with distance learning only. The Districts have not yet set a definitive safe return date. We know that Vista parents and students are wondering how this will affect our plans for opening next month.
At Vista Charter Public Schools, our key priority is the safety of our students, team-members & families. At the same time, we recognize the need to maintain the highest levels of education for our students.
Given the current rise in COVID-19 cases in California and the challenges of aligning with local health guidelines, we are actively considering many possible reopening scenarios. Our team has designed multiple creative options that are being considered. Any decision we make will be based first and foremost on the safety and health of our students, teachers and families.
Fortunately, we still have time before we open and will continue to monitor the situation and follow all public health guidelines as they emerge over the next couple of weeks. We know that our decision affects our students and families emotionally, as well as economically, and we will weigh all the needs of our community as we finalize our reopening plan.
Be assured that our reopening plan will continue our mission to transform the educational experience of our students and provide a program that is socially and emotionally supportive, intellectually engaging and academically rigorous.
Please be on the lookout for more information next week.
I hope each of you continue to stay safe and healthy.
Don Wilson Ed.D.
