Welcome to Vista Horizon Global Academy
It is my honor to lead Vista Horizon Global Academy, our elementary school in Los Angeles, and be of service as principal. Every school year presents new challenges and opportunities to build upon the successes and lessons of years before. As we return to campus this year, I am excited about all the possibilities for learning and growing together and the many opportunities we will have for continued collaboration with our amazing families, school staff, and Vista team. For those of you who have been part of our community, I am glad to know that you have returned, and for those of you who are new, thank you for joining us.
Our organization’s mission to transform the school experience is at the heart of all we do. Through our signature instructional methods, which include social-emotional learning practices such as the Way of Council, along with the workshop approach to teaching reading and writing, educating for global competence, and the integration of science, technology, engineering, math, and the arts, we continually bring student-centered pedagogy to life while balancing rigorous academic and social-emotional learning.
Our students engage in educational activities designed intentionally to be both challenging and just right so they can make steady progress in an environment that addresses the needs of the individual and the dynamic energy of the group. In our classrooms and on our campus, you will see students interacting with each other and their teachers in ways that raise their awareness of themselves and others so that we are continually developing the strength of our community of learners. In this supportive, collegial, and collaborative environment, our students develop into globally competent individuals who learn deeply, think critically, and lead courageously.
Families, you are our partners in this endeavor and an essential component of any successful school. Throughout your time at Vista, there will be numerous opportunities to get involved and make a difference in the lives of the members of our community. You can be assured that we will be reaching out to encourage your involvement and understand together how we can best meet the needs of your student.
It is my passion to help families and students navigate the many challenges school presents and to also celebrate accomplishments right alongside you. My office door, whether virtual or physical, is open to each of you and I am always happy to speak with and assist you.
