Adrianna Munguia’s passion stems from her belief that building positive relationships with all stakeholders develops a cohesive school community. As a first year teacher, Mrs. Munguia took over a class where she developed the understanding that relationships are key to student success. Students need positive role models in their lives and Mrs. Munguia strives to be one of them. After several years of successfully teaching the third grade, Mrs. Munguia stepped into the role of an instructional coach where she coached Kindergarten through 8th grade teachers on instruction and classroom management. She soon became an administrator-in-training, taking on job responsibilities typical of an Assistant Principal and after two years, was promoted to Principal of a Kindergarten through eighth grade elementary school in Glassell Park. As a leader of a school community, Mrs. Munguia firmly believes that every student, if given the opportunity, has the ability to grow both intellectually and emotionally. She understands that while students have a lot to offer, they also carry baggage that can be emotionally demanding and giving students the time and space, along with support, to deal with that baggage will help students succeed. Mrs. Munguia is currently Principal of Vista Horizon Global Academy in Los Angeles, where she collaboratively works with teachers and staff to transform the school experience. She graduated from UCLA with a B.A. in Sociology and from CSUDH with a MA in Educational Leadership. During her downtime, Mrs. Munguia enjoys spending time with her one-year old son and going to Disneyland.
